Home / Our farmers

Khet se rasoi tak · खेत से रसोई तक

The people who grow your food

Our spices, dals, rice and seeds come from farming villages across Uttar Pradesh and beyond. We want every Sri Sarayu pack to put more money in the hands of the families who grew it.

Khet se rasoi tak

Our farmer promise

These are the commitments we are building Sri Sarayu around. We’ll publish how we’re doing against them, with real numbers, once we have a full season of buying behind us.

Direct from the farm

We buy from farmer clusters and FPOs directly, so fewer middlemen take a cut.

A fairer price

Our goal is to pay above the local mandi rate for produce that passes our lab tests.

Paid on time

We aim to pay farmers within 7 days of delivery, not months later.

Women farmers first

We prioritise women-led farmer groups and self-help groups wherever we can.

Better crops, better price

We share lab results with the farmers we buy from, so cleaner, residue-free produce is recognised and rewarded.

Fewer hands in between

Buying direct from clusters and FPOs means more of what you pay reaches the village.

Once a season we plan to take customers and creators to meet the farmers behind their food. Follow @srisarayu for dates.

Garmi ki chhuttiyan, nani ka gaon

For the 90s kids who are now parents

Remember summers at nani’s gaon?

Afternoons on the charpai under the neem tree. Mangoes cooling in a bucket. The radio playing old songs, and the TV antenna that needed fixing every time the wind blew. And the food: dal with a tadka you could smell from the gali, fresh makki ki roti, kadha when it rained.

You can’t give your children those summers back. But you can give them the same honest food, made the way it was then and checked the way it should be now.
